The need for peroxide performance enhancers
Increased use of hydrogen peroxide for APMP pulp bleaching as well as limitation of chlorine dioxide availability are compelling reasons for the requirement of PPE.
PPE lower the dosages of hydrogen peroxide by controlling its breakdown / degradation, thus resulting to improved efficiency and lower costs for the mill. Additional benefits of PPE include lower bleaching chemical demand, improved pulp viscosity and brightness reversion.
APMP & BCTMP pulping, newsprint deinking are areas which require huge dosages of hydrogen peroxide. PPE products are used to lower consumption in the bleach plant after oxygen delignification, prior to the addition of peroxide or peroxide liquor. These can also be applied directly to peroxide liquor make-up systems as a sodium silicate replacement or prior to addition of sodium silicate when silicate reduction is desired. Dosage levels range between 0.4 – 1.4 kg/Adt pulp based on raw material furnish.
