On September 17, 2026, the 2026 International Papermaking Technology Symposium took place at the Wuhan International Conference Center. Wu Peng, Technical Manager at APC Group, was invited to speak alongside industry experts including Ni Yonghao, a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and professor at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University; Lu Zhaoqing, Vice President and professor at Shaanxi University of Science and Technology; and Zhu Hongwei, Chief Engineer at Yueyang Forest & Paper Co., Ltd.

Wu delivered a presentation titled High-Performance Chemicals Support the Development of Premium Domestic Fluff Pulp: Synergistic Debonding and Antistatic Control, providing technical insights into fluff pulp development in China.

The presentation highlighted high-performance chemicals as an important means of overcoming technical barriers to domestic production. Producers need to balance pulp sheet and roll strength with ease of downstream fiberization, achieve low static and dust levels, and ensure overall performance, including compatibility with superabsorbent polymers (SAP). These remain key technical challenges for domestic manufacturers.

Upgrading premium domestic fluff pulp requires a systematic approach that coordinates raw materials, production processes, and chemical applications. Synergistic control using debonding and antistatic agents involves more than simply blending additives: it requires matching treatments to fiber characteristics and optimizing formulations and dosing processes.

This approach can improve fiberization, reduce the effects of static electricity, and meet downstream application requirements such as absorbent core formation and liquid distribution, helping narrow the performance gap between domestic products and premium overseas alternatives. Qualification requirements for the premium hygiene products supply chain are stringent. Product stability and batch-to-batch consistency directly determine whether manufacturers can qualify as suppliers to leading customers.

The presentation reviewed the current state of the fluff pulp industry, key technical challenges, and practical approaches to chemical application. It also shared insights into implementing synergistic debonding and antistatic control technologies, offering a technical reference for industry peers attending the event.
